Nnenna Nina Chigbo, PT, HHHF, MPH, MNSP, MISEI

Profile:

Nnenna Nina Chigbo  is a graduate of Medical Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) from the University of Nigeria and has a Masters Degree in Public Health from Imo State University.  Nnenna designs exercise protocols for patients with deranged immune systems and manages patients in palliative care. 


Interests: 

  • Oncology Rehabilitation 
  • Rehabilitation in HIV/AIDS  
  • Immune system disorders 
  • Exercise prescription in special populations.


Professional highlights: 

  • Guest researcher with the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD & TB Prevention Unit of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia (2011)   
  • National Vice President, Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy (NSP) (2016- date)  
  • Education Director WCPT-International Physiotherapists in HIV/AIDS, Oncology, Hospice and Palliative Care. (2013-date). 
  • Protocol reviewer, Health Research Ethics Committee, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu.    

Awards: 

  •  2019 - The inaugural ' Nnenna Chigbo' award of excellence in global education in Oncology, HIV/AIDS, Hospice and Palliative care.  
  • 2014 - Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy ‘Best Presenter’ Award recipient.
  • 2010 - Awarded the prestigious Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship granted by the Fulbright Scholarship Board under the US Department of State which earned her a Global Health fellowship in Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.
